Under The Radar
Six Ways to Avoid the Man
It's common knowledge that modified Hondas receive more attention from the cops than any other make or model out there. This is especially true in California. We've all heard the stories of the pesky no-front-plate fix-it ticket that turned into a hood-pop and vehicle impound. Don't give 'em a reason to pull you over in the first place. Read on, fly under the radar and postpone the inevitable, if only for a while.

What Front Plate?
Yeah, it'll partially block airflow to the radiator or an intercooler, and some might even say they're ugly, but front license plates are one of the first things cops look for in tough-law states like California. Mount yours visibly, where it should be-the dash or visor usually won't cut it.

The 5-inch Exhaust Tip:
Even with a decent-size muffler, most exhaust systems are still pretty loud and, thanks to their oversized polished tips and canisters, are easily recognized. Consider a stealth and tip-less system and a quality resonator.

The Obligatory Crooked Sticker:
Showing brand loyalty is good and all, but a window full of vinyl can lead to a mandatory popped hood or worse. Save the stickers for the races and meets.

The Limo Tint:
Although not as popular today, tint has long been a red flag for the cops. If you do it, you're almost guaranteed a hassle. It's one of the oldest and easiest-to-spot violations in a cop's arsenal.

Turn It Down:
Face it, those around you don't want to pull up to hear what you're bumpin'. Getting pulled over for excessively loud music isn't uncommon. Keep it down and avoid the hassle.

Wise Up:
Obey traffic laws and you just might have a better chance of sneaking past the man. A slammed Civic making unsignaled lane changes and bouncing through traffic sticks out like a sore thumb. Don't be "that guy" on the road and you'll have a better chance of blending in.
