Yet the most stunning part of Hernandez's car is not the set of yellow HRE wheels, or the elegant line formed by the Mugen carbon fiber hood and hardtop (although they run close seconds and thirds), but the paint. Hernandez insists that it's factory Spa Yellow, but mixed with a little secret recipe by Leo at Team V Auto Work in Miami. Team V is the same paint shop that shot show car big-dog Jay Laub's RX-7, so it's not a wonder why the yellow comes off vibrating like a billion minute marbles.
This is not a car you want to get in the habit of weaving in and out of lanes with.
Bolts&WashersOmar Hernandez's 2001 S2000
PropulsionOmar's S2 prowls Miami powered by an F20C with stock bottom end and upgraded valvetrain. Up top are Toda Type C cams, cam gears and springs, flexing on Ferrea valves and retainers. Hernandez gave the head a port & polish job for good measure. The F20C inhales through TWM individual throttle bodies and breathes out through a Mugen header and Type One straight pipe, exiting out of an APEXi 70mm stainless exhaust.
In addition to the ITBs, the fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator are TWM issue, pushing a mixture set off by NGK plugs and wires. An AEM EMS unit orchestrates the timing. Hernandez cracked the rear-end and dropped the transmission to add an Exedy clutch and a Cusco 1.5-way limited-slip.
StanceTEIN Flex coilovers at all four corners receive support from a Cusco tie bar and X-brace underneath, and a Spoon strut tower bar .

RIMS & RubberAn undeniable highlight of this S2000 is its rolling stock. HRE 543R's all around are shod with Bridgestone Potenza S03 rubber (sized at 245/35R19 front, 275/30R19 back). Wheels are sized at 19x8.5 in front (52mm offset) and 19x11 in back (62mm offset).
FashionInside: Mugen S1 seats and Takata harnesses provide the cushion, while Mugen pedals, shift knob and steering wheel provide the points of contact. A Cusco 6-point rollcage cuts down on the cabin flex.
Outside: More Mugen goodness in the form of hardtop, carbon fiber hood, front lip and three-piece wing.
